For anyone that admires sneakers, skateboarding, and Japanese culture, Vans has the kicks for you. The Vans Hosoi adopts the design of the Japanese Rising Sun Flag and gives it a skateboarding twist. The Rising Sun is best known as the military ensign of the Japanese Imperial Navy and the war flag of the Japanese Imperial Army. Vans is releasing these limited Hosois as Sk8-His, Eras, and Slip-Ons,  all featuring the Rising Sun, Hosoi embroidery, and the image of a Japanese skater on the insole. The Hosoi is available now at select retailers such as Napsize. These Vans are stunning but keep in mind that some people in certain countries—particularly victims of Japanese Imperial hostility, like China and Korea—still consider the emblem of the Rising Sun to be offensive. Tread considerately.
